Rocky Mountain Women’s Health Center offers a non-surgical, hormone-free permanent birth control method called Essure®. Essure® enables a woman to have the peace of mind of a permanent birth control solution without the cutting and general anesthesia required for a tubal ligation or the use of hormones/pills that can prove dangerous to women as they age.
Safe and highly effective, the Essure® method can typically be completed within 30 minutes. During the procedure, your physician will place soft, flexible inserts inside your fallopian tubes, eventually forming a natural barrier that prevents sperm from reaching the eggs. Three months after the procedure, you will be required to take an Essure® Confirmation Test to insure that both tubes are properly blocked.
Because Essure® is so non-invasive, patients generally return to work within 24 to 48 hours of the procedure. Please be aware that Essure® is a permanent procedure and is not reversible.
